RETURN TO NORMAL - acoustic americana and new folk
R2N's new album "Blinking in the Brackens"

May 19. A drop-by and jam at our favorite open-mic, Bruno's in New Carlisle, Indiana. A rare appearance with keyboards.

May 25. An open air fun in the sun session and Prairie Trails Club fundraiser at the North Judson Trail trailhead on the intersection of Ind. State Rd. 10 and Starke Co. Road 250W 2 miles east of North Judson. A pure acoustic sing-along play-along.

June 2. A very special all-original mini-concert at the the Union Coffeehouse in Buchanan, Michigan. A full show of our own music from Overflown and Blinking in the Brackens, along with new songs. We'll bring all the gear for this one, so expect the unexpected -- acoustic guitar, sure...but we'll be using keys and more too. Michiana's premiere venue for real songwriters.

Honestly, we don't use this site all that much, so sometimes it gets out of date. For the most current R2N stuff try these links.

Return to Normal on Facebook. For some serious homespun silliness, join the Tuesday Night Campfire Video Group for frequent live performance videos from our home studio, as we share music in a stimulating international music blend. For more video, visit our new YouTube channel. Rather humble at this point (though, I enjoy humble, it has a place); but we'll be adding more soon.

Marty's SoundCloud account, MLucas, has the most frequent musical postings with Return to Normal, solo improvs, spoken word performances from the transatlantic post-rock side project "Morefield, Snaith and Lucas", collaborations with Tennessee based Americana songwriter Byran Ciliberto, and other SoundCloud musicians worldwide and even occasional experimental pieces. Now nearing 3,500 followers, and 40,000 plays -- both "From Ripley County" and "Tyburn Fair" charted worldwide on SoundCloud in early 2013. Here's a recent porch-pickin' fingerstyle guitar improv:

Corinne's SoundCloud account, CorinneBL, is the best place to hear more of Corinne's beautiful singing. Here's a recent gem, accompanied by Marty on classical guitar:

R2N's 2011 LP, Overflown is available for download or you can order the physical CD on Return to Normal's Bandcamp Store; the download is also available on Amzaon MP3 and iTunes (search for "Return to Normal"). Thanks for supporting real independent music.

Austin based Alan Schuyler recently reviewed Overflown in his blog, Off the Mainstream. Here's an excerpt:

The music stands on its own but the lyrics of each song tell a story. The lyrics (in my Forest Gump-like opinion) are each a poem and a story.

In “Joe Casey” we hear the story of an outsider artist who worked days in the Studebaker plant but then spent his evenings at home with his family painting canvases depicting, from memory, his younger years hunting and fishing in the Missouri Ozarks. “The Lincoln Highway Song” conjures the mirages, and perhaps the chimeras, of a boring drive on a hot midsummer day down the flat and tired pavement of America’s oldest transcontinental road. “Beehunter” travels back 60,000 years to the African bush as a man called Oolat discovers that by following a honey-guide bird he can unlock the door to nature’s candy the entire review
